Sometimes I forget just what a crazy journey we have been on together.  It wasn’t so long ago (about 18 months) that I was pregnant and we began seriously pursuing our dream of LilyBee Wrap.  We had a clear vision of where we wanted to go, but, much like actually having a baby, nothing could have prepared us for the wild ride.

Earlier today I started listing off the things we have done.  On any given date I often reflect, with disbelief, on where we were a year ago and how far we have traveled, but I don’t often list the accomplishments.  It changed things.  There seemed to be a few themes that came up beyond the obvious of helping so many families just like ours use less plastic.

Miko and I pride ourselves on being a team in just about everything we do in life:  everything from childcare to dinner to some of the meatier business decisions we are now faced with.  But when I look out to the next circle of our little family, I realize that LilyBee and the positive changes we are making is predominately powered by WOMEN.

Our employees are almost 100% woman, including our vendors, our photographer, and even the ‘Turn the Tide on Plastic’ crew who we recently shot our latest video with. The team is setting records for being predominately female in a male-dominated sport and has a female captain. How cool is that?!  Do you know who else is predominately female?  YOU.

We didn’t set out to have a predominately female customer base, but all of you moms, grandmas, daughters, sisters, aunties, and friends, YOU understood our vision, YOU understood the importance of making changes to stop the use of single-use plastic for the health of our families and environment.  When I sit back and think about the power of this, it’s just incredible.  Together in our everyday lives we are making a huge impact.  No big signs, banners, or protests.  Just the simple act of making our kids' lunches and wrapping our leftovers with LilyBee instead of glad wrap is changing our world.

Perhaps this is always how true change occurs.  In our kitchens, in our homes, and in our hearts with women leading the charge and changing our world, together.  Our hats are off to each and every one of you.  Keep inspiring others through your choices and make meaningful change.  We couldn't do it without you.
